HOPE FARM
With a view to implementing its support for community development, UCCD has initiated a project to set up a modern agro-pastoral farm called “Hope Farm’’. Through this project, UCCD aims at two main objectives: 1) Develop a modern agro pastoral operation, serving as a reference and an educational tool for the community in order to contribute to the transformation of Burundian agriculture that creates wealth and catalyst for food security ( cfr Vision Burundi Emerging Country in 2040 and Developed Country in 2060. 2) Develop an economically profitable activity that can generate income to ensure its own sustainability as well as that of the entire organization.
Sustainable community development As specified in the National Development Plan of Burundi (PND 2018-2027), the economic situation is still very fragile with a GDP of 110 US dollars per capita and poverty affects more than 65% of the population. The food and nutritional situation is particularly worrying. Our specific objective is to contribute to the sustainable increase in income and to the improvement of the living conditions of our beneficiaries (households vulnerable to poverty, unemployed young people, etc.) Households vulnerable to poverty and unemployed young people are gathered in cooperatives and are technically and financially accompanied until they became autonomous.
